Manoel Bolutife Akure is a Creative Director, DOP & Photographer working out of Bath, England.

His upbringing in the North of Nigeria is partly responsible for his love of storytelling. Being brought up in a family and culture that believes a person's story is the thing that connects them to others, the importance in communicating them authentically and carefully was always apparent. 

As the youngest of four, when his older sisters would come back from boarding school they told him night time stories. Building vivid and fantastical worlds full of relatable characters and thrilling adventures. Those stories most definitely played a role in his love for the visual art, trying to give life to those stories. In his journey he found mixed media gave him a flexibility with telling stories that allowed for more nuanced ways of communicating. New perspectives  and ideas could be explored in varied refreshing ways. 

He found a strength in simplicity, learning the importance of cutting out distractions. He began to develop a style that aimed to strike a balance between grit and the refined, Nostalgia and presentism. Creating with intention, embracing personality, leaning into the unexpected and harnessing warmth in earthy tones.
